It won't be long now!

School starts this Thursday, August 12th. It seems like every summer keeps getting shorter and shorter. Andrew has grown a few inches, and Austin has mastered his beginning swimming lessons from the YMCA. Stay tuned for an update on their first day of school!

Introducing Darcie Hudson!

Darcie is a 7 month old Scottish Terrier. She was given to Mrs. Hudson by a co-worker. She was born in Bedford, Indiana, on March 21, 2009. Darcie has a little brindle on her back with a white patch on her chest. She is a sweatheart. She is a very calm, but playful pup. She loves the Hudson boys, enjoys licking their faces, and sleeping in their beds at night. Darcie even has a special interest for Mr. Hudson. She has been spotted snuggling on him in the evenings, or following him around everywhere he goes. Darcie loves to ride in the family van. Her favorite place is to sit in the driver's lap with her head resting on the the steering wheel.

Apple Works Trip

Andrew and Austin had fun playing with the pumkins, riding the train, petting the goats, and eating lots of apples. Mom, on the other hand, enjoyed watching them run around and ate her favorite yearly treat; a frosted pumpkin donut.

Shelf Makeover

I bought this ugly shelf at a garage sale for $1 and just used some paint, scrapbook paper, and Modge Podge I had in my craft box to complete.
At first I thought I would just paint it and use it as a spice rack behind a door. After much thought I decided I needed the extra storage in my Masterbath, which is decorated in an ocean theme.
Thanks to some idea's from MTO, I was inspired.

Mrs. Hudson Returns To Work!

Just wanted to let all my MTO friends and family know I am returning to work begining Monday, September 21st. I am going to work for National Wine & Spirits, my former employer.
I am so thankful to have been able to stay home for the past 5 years with my boys. MTO, and all my friends there, has been such a blessing to me in many ways. I will miss all the good times spent at the meetings and outings.
But there is always Facebook. Lol!

Labor Day!

The Hudson Boys with their second Cousins on a wagon ride in Martinsville. Cousin Brad enjoyed driving them around the neighborhood on the four wheeler! The Hudson's had a nice cookout which included grilled hot dogs, sausages, and hamburgers, with chips and dip, homemade peach cobbler, and baked beans. No one goes home hungry in this family! Lol!

Kid's Magnetic Boards for School Art!

This was an experiment for me. Both magnetic boards costs $10 each (using 2 coupons for the boards.) and only took about 2 hours to complete.
I purchased the following supplies at Jo-Anns: two 3' boards, 8 pieces of scrapbook paper, Modge Podge, 1 sponge brush, Scrapbook paper cutter, and three magnetic sheets 9' x 12'.
1. I ran into a snag when I discovered the magnetic paper wasn't strong enough for me to place it underneath the scrapbook paper. So I had to redesign the whole board to make it work. On Sponge Bob, I glued the blue paper down to cover the entire board. Next I cut the magnetic sheet into thirds. Last, I cut the paper squares out and glued them down.
Above is Austin's Sponge Bob Square Pants magnetic board hanging on the wall.

Andrew's magnetic board has a soccer theme to go along with his sports room. I had some extra paper left over so I made some soccer magnets.

Above is what Andrew's magnetic board looks like hanging up.

Our Last Week Before School On Friday

It's our last week together. We have been doing a lot of fun things together before school starts on Friday. Some of our favorite activities include the following: swimming, playing video games, watching movies, and riding our bikes. Andrew will be starting the third grade and Austin is going to start first grade at Southwest Elementary. I will start watching a neighborhood boy before and after school until I find a full-time job in addition to babysitting for Cruz, my nephew.

Hudson Mom Turns 39!

The Hudson boys decided their Mom needed a PediEgg and a cookout at Uncle Huck's with swimming. So that's what we did. Hot dogs, hamburgers, and the works. It was a nice day!

Kings Island 2009

We had a great time at King's Island. It was very hot, but that didn't stop us from having a great time. We stayed cool at the beach and hung out in the lazy river. At least I did. I actually lost the 3 boys/man in my life and enjoyed a few extra rounds on my own. Ooops! But eventually they found me at one of the exits and I was off to the waterslides.
Later that afternoon, we headed over to the other park to eat dinner at LaRosa's Pizza and to ride the rides. To our surprise there were plenty of places to sit and not many visitors. We had an awesome day. A lot of the rides had little or no wait. We were able to ride several rides more than once as long as there wasn't a line. The boys kept insisting on going to the Scooby Doo Haunted Mansion over and over again. I think we did it 4 or 5 times.
Our trip ended with fireworks, and then we raced home safely, of course.

Indy 500 Parade 2009

We had the perfect weather for the parade this year. We got downtown early, walked around, packed a bunch of food, and made a day of it.
This has become a HudsonFamily Tradition.
